On our way to Myrtle Beach, SC

We left this morning around 8:40am. Final destination will be Myrtle Beach on Sunday. We planned on taking 3 days for travel, each day’s trip will be just shy of 300 miles.

Arrived at Spring Valley Campground around 2:40pm. This campground is very easy on and off the local free ways. At $29.00 per night with free wi-fi, we figured it wasn’t bad at all for a stop over night.

The trip here went perfect. Actually going through Ohio, there was more snow than what we have at home!

Actually had to turn on the furnace while we ate lunch, as it was only 62 in the MH. It didn’t take long before it was cozy and warm.

Spring Valley Campground is located about a mile West of I-77 and the I-70 interchange. We can actually see the vehicles on I-70 from our site, but with the windows closed you can barely here the traffic noise.

This campground fits our needs perfectly for an overnight stay. All the sites are gravel and are level.

We plan on hitting the hay early tonight, so we can get an early start tomorrow. We really enjoy traveling at the break of daylight.

Hopefully our next stop will also have Wi-Fi, but I don’t count on it.

Until next time, be safe and God Bless.

Two Dr.’s and an MRI…oh my!

What a busy day yesterday was!

My back pain was to the point that I just had to do something and FAST. Called the Chiropractor, got an appointment for 9:30am. Called my Dr. and got an appointment for 1:30pm.

Arriving at the Chiropractor with the news that my back was feeling worse than ever concerned him quite a bit. He wouldn’t even try to adjust me again. I told him I had an appointment with my regular Dr. which he said was a wise thing to do. He gave me the last set of X-Rays he took last week so my Dr. could take a look if needed.

By the afternoon I was in so much pain that when Wilma said she was going to drive me to the Dr.’s I didn’t even argue.

On the way there it hurt just going around corners and the jar from the chuck holes made me even flinch! This is scary as I have never had a pain like this in my back before, and I’ve had plenty of problems with my back in the past.

After an exam from my Dr. he ordered an MRI “stat”. He suspected possibly kidney stones. I was to go have it done and stay there until told what to do next. So off to the MRI location about a mile away we went.

Within 2 hours the report came back to my Dr. He told them to tell me to go home and he would contact me later. So I figured that his hunch of possible Kidney stones was no longer a threat.

Home we went and I sat quietly in the recliner, trying not to move, as each movement, especially leaning forward caused me severe pain. On a scale of 1 to 10 I guess I’d say about an 8. The reason I can’t say 10 is because at the Dr.’s office, when I was first checked out by the nurse, she asked me what pain level I was at on a scale of 1 to 10. I said 10! She looked over at Wilma, (as she wanted to accompany me to hear what the Dr.’s prognosis would be) smiled and said,”You do know that a 10 is child birth pain”.  They both got a chuckle out of that, even under the pain, I had to laugh, but darn it I was hurting and hurting bad! Crying face

Now back at home, I sat in that recliner for at least 2 hours waiting for the Dr. to call.

The call came and the Dr. told me there were no signs of Kidney stones or other abnormalities. That he suspects a pulled, maybe badly strained muscle. He prescribed 3 meds for me to take.

  • Orphenadrine ER 100mg. Take 1 tablet, twice a day.
  • Naproxen 500mg, Take 1 tablet, twice a day.
  • Hydrocodon-Acetaminoph 7.5-750. Take 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed.

All I know about these are that one is an muscle relaxer, one is an anti-inflammatory, and one is for pain. I guess the last one to take ever 6 hours is for the pain.

After taking the meds, it took about an hour and WOW, NO MORE PAIN! Open-mouthed smile It’s the best I’ve felt for 3 full weeks now!

Now comes the kicker. We are planning on leaving Thursday morning for a trip to S. Carolina. We have been planning this trip since the beginning of Winter, and are really are looking forward to it. Do we go or cancel???  I do not notice any fatigue with the meds, so I told Wilma, “Let’s go”. She is a little hesitant though. What to do, what to do, what to do?!

Wilma has “ordered” me to stay relaxed doing absolutely nothing today. Let the drugs do their thing. Tomorrow we will be able to tell for sure. I re-assured her that there are enough drugs for 15 days. We would be back home before the drugs were gone, and if I am still in pain on returning home, then I’d go back to the Dr. for further tests.

So for today, I am confined to the recliner, couch, or bed! Sad smile Hopefully by this evening, or tomorrow morning at the latest I’ll feel like a million $$$ and finish getting ready to go on our trip.

Keep your fingers crossed, and say a prayer for me if you will.

Until next time, be safe and God Bless.

Fighting with myself.

Looking over the blog, I noticed that I’ve only had 1 entry for the month of March! Did the month go by that fast? Sorry I’ve kind of stopped writing, but I just can’t find much to put down in the blog. I guess it’s a little fear of boring people to death, and them thinking, “What the heck does he even bother for?”.  So I’ll just have to start forcing myself I guess.

Been really fighting with myself lately. This weather is starting to take a toll on me. I have never seen a winter last so long and give us so much snow and cold! It’s getting pretty depressing. But I guess we aren’t the only ones having bad weather. Reading many blogs from RV travelers all over the country, it seems like everyone is having abnormal weather.

Now for the past 2 weeks I’m experiencing spasms in my lower back! Been going to a Chiropractor and he has been working me over pretty good. Yesterday after my appointment with him I felt pretty good. The pain let up as the day progressed. By evening I was thinking I’ll be free from this pain for good by tomorrow. But nope, today I woke up and it was back again. This time it has stayed with me all day, at times not even being able to stand straight.

It’s starting to get me mighty depressed! The weather, now this darn back of mine!

What I need is a little sunshine, warm sand to run my toes through, and the sound of waves and sea gulls! Open-mouthed smile Yep I believe that just might do the trick!

I’m sure this will happen someday soon!

Until next time, be safe and God Bless

Some Sunshine, Some Snow

Where has the time gone? It’s been 12 days since my last post! I’ve heard that time fly’s by the older we get, and now I believe it.

About a week ago the sun decided to shine. What a beautiful site! Blue bright skies, bright sunshine, makes a person just want to lay down and soak it all up.                                                                                                                                                       Kybee and I soaking up the warm sunshine. So that’s exactly what Kybee and I decided to do. Right in the middle of the living room. Couldn’t do it outside because it was still in the low 30’s.

I am still working on the bathroom. New Vanity and sink, new towel rack, paper holder and wash cloth holder installed. A new cabinet mounted on the wall above the toilet was a very much needed piece.  Fresh paint looks great also. Wilma is planning on hanging a few pictures on the wall to decorate it up a bit and I’ll call it finished. Well, except for a fresh coat of paint on the door and molding. Then it will be done.

It was time consuming when you figure I had to re-coat the entire ceiling and walls with drywall mud. This had to be done to fill in the “crackle” effect cracks from the last paint job.

All in all, Wilma and I are quite happy with the outcome. Me especially because I didn’t have to rush myself to get it finished. Open-mouthed smile

Wondering about the snow reference in the title?

WE RECEIVED ANOTHER 2 INCHES OF SNOW LAST NIGHT!!!  Crying face  When will it ever end?!? Everyone you talk to around my neck of the woods is tired of Winter and can’t wait to get some warm weather to melt this snow.

Until next time, be safe and God Bless.
