Christmas Lights & Fast Food

Wilma and I talked about it earlier and we decided that I only should put up a few Christmas lights outdoors this year, instead of lighting up two sides of our home. So today I took advantage of the warm spell we had and put them up around the deck on the side of our home.

I realize it doesn’t look like much, but when it gets dark the LED lights cast a beautiful glow of different colors against the white deck railing. I really don’t care to put the Christmas decorations up at such an early date, but it was nice doing it in the warm weather. I believe the temperature got up to around 60F. today.

As Wilma has been feeling under the weather the last several days with a cold, she really didn’t feel like fixing anything for supper. She asked if I would get her a Whopper with Bacon and Cheese and a large French Fry.

Whopper with Bacon

I decided if I was going to get her the Whopper, I would swing by Subway and get me a sub, which is what I ended up doing.

I know as one ages, the mind starts going a little. But I can’t remember when it was that I was last in Burger King. But I did recognize that the entire restaurant was remodeled.

Paying for the burger and fries gave me sticker shock! Not just at Burger King, but Subway also! We could have had a complete hot meal with desert at our favorite restaurant for what I paid for our meal this evening. So I guess it will be quite a while before I venture into a fast food joint again. You just can’t beat the local Family Restaurants, and I’m not talking about those chain restaurants.

Until next time, be safe and God Bless.

Breakfast with longtime friends

I first met Bob way back in 1981. Was introduced to him while at our place of employment, General Dynamics. Within minutes I knew he would be a friend of mine for life.

Everyone probably knows someone that would “give you the shirt off his back”. And Bob is this type of guy and more.

The last time we were together was back in early 2011. Many months have passed and we decided it has been too long, and that it was time for another little get together. So this morning we all had breakfast at our favorite restaurant Dee Dee’s Family Restaurant.

The date was wrong in the camera by a month.

We must have been there at least 2 hours catching up on our busy lives. What a great time we all had, and are looking forward to the next time we get together. Which I know will be sooner than later.

Until next time, be safe and God Bless.

Brooke Breaks leg, Surgery

Thursday morning we get a phone call from Angel, our daughter. Brooke fell on her bike on her way to school and that she is taking her to the hospital.

It was an extremely long day for Wilma, Angel and Brooke. She was admitted to the hospital with a severe broken leg. So severe that it will require surgery. The surgery was scheduled for first thing Friday morning, so our daughter Angel, stayed with her throughout the night.

Wilma and I were up at 4:30am Friday so she would be with Brooke prior to her going down for surgery. They didn’t end up taking her until around 9:00am.

Prior and after surgery Brooke kept everyone updated on Facebook.

After surgery, the Dr. talked to Angel and Wilma. He informed them that it was a very bad break and the bone was shattered at the rear of her left calf. A plate and 8 screws were needed to mend the bone back together.

The Dr. said that after some physical therapy tomorrow morning, she might be ready to go home Saturday afternoon. She has a cast from her toes to her knee, and she will have to learn how to walk with crutches.

This is how I first saw her after surgery.

Not wanting to wake her I placed a kiss on her forehead. Many prayers are being said for her complete recovery.

Until next time, be safe and God Bless.
