Easter and Doctors

Easter Sunday we were blessed with having the entire family over to enjoy the warm sunshine and have a delicious dinner. Wilma had a couple of the kids help her with the dinner prep.

Savannah making Fluff As most teens are, they just can’t pass up the opportunity to take advantage of the internet access. So while Savannah was in the kitchen helping Nana, the other girls were on the internet.

Wi-Fi Internet Available It wasn’t long though that we were all outside enjoying the sunshine. The kids raced around the house looking for hidden eggs then we all enjoyed a delicious lunch that Wilma prepared for us all. Back outside to enjoy the sunshine and “cut up” with each other.

IMG_0593The short time I was able to sit outside was precious. But the pain from the back just wouldn’t allow me to stay outside very long and I had to go lay on the couch.

Monday I had my appointment with the Dr. that did the injections trying to relieve the

NaNa with all the grandkids Sciatic pain. He did point out on the computer screens, the area he believes is causing the pain. It seems that I have a piece of bone actually pushing on the nerve. I am planning on getting all the X-Ray photos he took, along with his reports of what exactly was done, and get a second opinion. I know two other people that have had spine surgery and I am going to have their surgeon take a look at my case. A phone call was made Monday afternoon and a my visit is set for May 5th. If it is determined that I need surgery, I plan on using him as the surgeon and hope he can schedule me in soon.

Snowfall Record, Ubuntu, & Health Update

Metro Detroit surpassed the snowiest winter on record this morning, reaching 94.8 inches, breaking the record of 93.6 inches set in 1880-81, according to the National Weather Service. Click here Detroit Snowfall to read about it in one of our local Newspapers.

Record Breaking Snowfall Wilma and I were blessed for most of the winter; spending our time in Florida. Mother nature just had to show us last night what a fresh snow fall looks like on our deck.

A couple days ago I installed Linux Ubuntu on Wilma’s computer. No more Window XP for her with all the malware and computer slowing junk. We worked together gathering all her music and photo’s off the computer first, then came the ever so easy installation of Ubuntu. Her photo’s  and music were copied back to her “Linux” computer after the installation. Everything worked great! Her computer even found the network and printer flawlessly! The old XP never could find the printer no mater how hard I tried.  She is now surfing the internet safely and with ease.

An update on my health reveals that I’m still having trouble with a pinched Sciatic nerve. At times I can hardly walk even with the walker! Thank goodness for the pills the Dr. prescribed.

Last Friday I was given the 3rd. spinal injections. About a half hour after the injections the Dr. came by to see how I was doing. No pain at all, was the answer I gave him when asked. He mentioned that if these injections don’t work I may have to consider surgery. A thought I’m not thrilled about.

Next Monday afternoon I have my follow up appointment with him. I guess I’ll get the recommendation then. Or at least what my other options may be. Something has to be done because this was the second straight night I was awakened at 2 am with the nerve pain going down my right leg and into my foot. The pain stops within an hour after taking the drugs he prescribed, but I don’t want to be taking those drugs the rest of my life. So if you can find it in your heart to say a prayer, I’d appreciate it.
